Gökhan Yücel holds BA in Journalism & Economics from Marmara University and MA in Politics from Essex University. He studied Comparative Politics and Public Policy at Oxford University. He also graduated from the Public Leadership Executive Program at John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
He served as a freelance consultant for companies in energy security & infrastructure, global affairs, security, mass media and education projects in the UK. He taught politics and public administration courses at Oxford University.
From 2009 to 2011, he was a special advisor to the Turkish Minister of National Education. He was involved in the initial phases of Fatih Project and a research project jointly organized with McKinsey for improvement of the Turkish education system.
Gökhan Yücel wrote op-eds in the Guardian, Radikal, Taraf, Hürriyet, Yeni Şafak and Turkish Daily News as well as several academic book chapters and journal articles on politics, civil society, education and innovation.

He taught comparative education policies at Okan and Hasan Kalyoncu Universities from 2011 to 2013.
He is currently teaching digital diplomacy in Global Affairs MA Program and directs the Digital Diplomacy Executive Education Program at Bahçeşehir University.
He is also an occasional lecturer at the Leadership, Politics and Diplomacy School of Bahcesehir University.
He currently writes comment articles for Digital Age and Hürriyet Eğitim.
He is the co-founder and president of YeniDiplomasi.com which is a global platform on digital diplomacy. Gökhan Yücel is also the founder and moderator of the Global Education Leaders Hangout Series.
